How do you want to feel during your session?

Different experiences evoke different feelings…so how do you want to feel? Do you want to just blend in with the crowd and have a  more generic experience? Would you prefer a session  with the school photographer or someone you find online where everyone gets the same thing? Generally with this option you just show up, having never met the photographer or assistance with any of the process, and maybe that is right up your alley. Often in these situations you may be unsure if you’ve picked the right shirt or belt, did you remember to iron your pants? Did you even remember to bring your pants?? How does your makeup look? If only you’d put on that other shirt, that one would go better with this backdrop…but these sessions are usually stacked back to back, so there isn’t a lot of room for making changes. Maybe you are totally fine with one location or backdrop with not much variety to your images, and maybe you prefer choosing from the same few packages everyone else does. Photos may not be a huge priority for you and your family and you may be just looking to check the box. If so, this could be the right option for you…just don’t forget your pants! ;) 

Next up, there are photographers who offer the run of the mill hour session with digitals. With this option, there is a bit more versatility in your images, sometimes these photographers allow wardrobe changes, but again it’s usually someone you’ve never met and have no clue how your personalities will gel, and you haven’t had much (if any) assistance with the session prep. You show up to the session with little guidance on wardrobe or styling, are photographed for an hour, then are left with a bunch of digitals to figure out what to do with. I don’t know about you, but I know so many people who have done this option and then have done nothing with their photos except maybe share a few on social media. The overwhelm, especially during this busy time, of how/where do you print them best for wall art, for an album, how long does it take to design this album, and where to print them so they will actually LAST (Did you know there’s a difference between archival paper and regular photo paper?) was too much and they put it off and put it off, leaving the disk or thumb drive to get lost in a drawer, or the images to be lost when a hard drive failed.

Do you want to blend in, like so many others in the options above…OR….do you feel like your senior photo shoot should be a bigger deal?
