As senior year approaches there are a few big decisions that need to be made, one of them being who you will choose to be your senior photographer. Senior photos are typically a big investment and commemorate a really important milestone in your life. That being said, HOW do you actually choose your senior photographer? What do you need to be thinking about? There are so many great photographers to choose from in every area, with Newnan, Peachtree City, and Fayetteville, GA being no exception. As a photographer with years of experience specializing in high school seniors, I decided to put together this blog series to help make that decision a little easier for you!
Your Style Matters
One of the first things to consider is what is YOUR style?? When choosing your senior photographer (in Newnan or anywhere!), you’ve definitely got to take their editing style into account. There are so many to choose from, but what matters most is your preference, because these are images that will commemorate this time in your life. Are you drawn to that dark and moody look? Light and airy? Or, are you like me, and can’t get enough of that vibrant and classic style? If you like bright and vibrant colors, that photographer that uses a dark and moody editing style might not get you those final images that make your heart sing. If you like a light and airy image where the colors are more muted, you may not want to choose a photographer with that bright and vibrant style. In the end, it is all about you. Your preferences and your style. There might be a photographer that "everyone goes to," but your needs and style could be different from theirs. You deserve to have photos you love.
What will you hang on your walls?
Make sure you keep your color preferences in mind and think about how you want to use your images…how will that photographer’s final images of you look when hanging on the wall next to the others in your home? Will they fit cohesively with how your home is decorated and the colors you’ve used? We all walk down the halls at our houses, and those of our friends and family, and check out all the photos hanging there. The different editing styles are pretty obvious as you look at the photos of each generation…I’m looking at you 1970’s! Those double exposures and people looking off into the distance…or how about those ‘90s Glamour shots?! (Any of you other mamas have those cause I do! Lol!) What do you want your children and grandchildren to think when they see YOUR photos hanging on the walls of your parents’ home and your home?
